Our core members are organisations and individuals involved in sex and relationships education (SRE). Many produce SRE resources and training that may be of interest to you. All our core members are in agreement with the Sex Education Forum values and principles.

National AIDS Trust (NAT) the UK's leading charity dedicated to transforming society's response to HIV. They develop policy and campaign for change to stop the spread of HIV and improve the lives of people living with HIV. Fresh thinking, expert advice and practical resources are provided.


The International Planned Parenthood Federationa global service provider and a leading advocate of sexual and reproductive health rights for all.   We are a worldwide movement national organisations working with and for communities and individuals.

National Children's Bureau is a charitable organisation that is dedicated to advancing the health and well-being of all children and young people across every aspect of their lives


NSPCC works with schools on developing peer support schemes, anti-bullying strategies, whole school behaviour policies and curriculum based work on emotional health and well-being.

Apause Apause is a school-based Sex and Relationships Education programme which promotes social inclusion & school improvement through improved relationships and healthier behaviours.

Amal Banunnah

Mrs Amal Banunnah is a lecturer at Um Al-Qura University in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA). She is also a PhD researcher in early childhood studies at Sheffield University. She is a specialist trainer in sex education to provide training courses to teachers and parents and evaluate Islamic SRE curriculum at schools. She is also a professional and consultant in delivering SRE in the classroom.

ATL is the union for education professionals across the UK. They support and represent their members throughout their career, using members' experiences to influence education policy, to defend pay, pensions and conditions and to facilitate career development.


ATSAC (Association for the Treatment of Sex Addiction & Compulsivity) is a not-for-profit professional association that provides information to the public and professional standards to therapists who work in the field of sex and porn addiction.  They provide information and advice to professionals and the public on the misunderstood issue of sex and pornography addiction.

Fruition is a training consultancy providing both formatted and tailored training for professionals, parents, children and young people across the breadth of Sex & Relationships Education.  SRE consultancy to date includes: mapping of service provision, evaluations, policy and strategy documents for schools, local authorities, PCT's, charities & voluntary sector organisations.

Herts for Learning (HfL) is a not for profit company owned by Hertfordshire schools and the Local Authority providing an exciting and innovative approach to delivering school improvement services. The PSHE and Wellbeing Adviser provides training and consultancy support to Hertfordshire’s schools on Sex and Relationships Education. Pshe Ass PSHE Association has been set up to help teachers and other PSHE professionals better plan, manage, deliver, evaluate and monitor PSHE provision. It aims to raise the status of PSHE and increase its impact on learners in the 21st century.
Rom Academy New Romance Academy is a nation-wide sex and relationships education initiative delivered by youth workers. It promotes stable relationships and aims to provide young people with the skills to delay sex.

Ruth Hilton


After working for Local Education Authorities for many years, Ruth is now an independent Advisory Teacher for PSHE with interests in SRE and Participation for pupils with SEN. She is also involved with a charity that delivers SRE to Jewish faith schools and as a member of the SEF constantly advocating for increasing SRE provision within PSHE for all schools.

SHEU does mostly lifestyle survey work in schools, but provides a variety of research and publishing services for people interested in health and education. Worcestershire Health & Care NHS Trust (sexual Health Service) education team provide training for professionals to deliver SRE to young people, including delivery to vulnerable young people through schools, social services, charities and local government agencies.  They also provide a young peoples drop-in service Time 4U, including and outreach nurse service and sexual health counselling.

Faith and Values

British Humanist Association

The British Humanist Association is the national charity working on behalf of non-religious people who seek to live ethical and fulfilling lives on the basis of reason and humanity. It has a long history of contributing towards and improving state education. It provides materials and advice to parents, governors, students, teachers and academics. It also works closely with others on education issues in a range of forums, in particular with respect to SRE/PSHE, RE, citizenship, science, and children's rights.

National Secular Society

The National Secular Society campaigns from a non-religious perspective for the separation of religion and state and promote secularism as the best means to create a society in which people of all religions or none can live together fairly and cohesively. 

       Methodist Church   

 The Methodist Church is a provider of primary and secondary education and of initial and continuing teacher education and has an interest in the development of curriculum policy and practice

The British Fertility Society actively promotes sharing of knowledge, further education and raising standards of practice, recognizing the multi-disciplinary nature of science and the practice of reproductive medicine it welcomes andrologists, counsellors, embryologists, endocrinologists, nurses and special interest groups to its membership, with core activities such as training certification, policy & practice, study workshops and other related meetings. 


Brook is the only national voluntary sector provider of free and confidential sexual health advice and services specifically for young people under 25.


Bpas is a charity providing pregnancy counselling, contraception and abortion care, as well as STI testing and treatment, on behalf of the NHS across the UK. They provide advice and care to young women with unintended pregnancies each year and use their experience in this area to inform sexual health policy and advocate for the reproductive healthcare services men and women need.

FFLAG (Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) works to educate and inform on the subject of homosexual relationships, working with parents, young people, schools and governors.

Family Lives

Family Lives is a national charity offering help and information for parents and families via a range of services including a free 24-hour confidential helpline, workshops, courses, information, leaflets, email helpline and website.

One Plus One

One Plus One focuses on understanding the causes, effects and prevention of relationship breakdown. It's central aim is to translate research findings into practical training programmes to help couples and families.

Positive Parenting and Children is the UK’s longest-running charity supporting children and families living with HIV and AIDS. Qualified social workers and family support workers from Positive Parenting and Children work with families to address problems that can adversely affect their health and to encourage and facilitate openness about HIV within the family.
