Rachael Baker is a qualified teacher, with much experience of working with young people in a broad range of settings, including mainstream, multi-faith, ESBD, PRU and most recently special needs secondary and 6th form.
Rachael has worked as PSHE Coordinator, and developed whole school RSE initiatives. As a Nurture Base teacher in SEND 6th form she devised and taught cross-curricular relationships and sex education, PSHE and lifeskills programmes for young people with unique educational needs. Rachael is currently studying towards the MA Education at Birmingham City University, focusing on wellbeing in education, and examining techniques and strategies that schools can employ to support learners with Autistic Spectrum Conditions to access learning.
Rachael joined the Sex Education Forum as Senior RSE Specialist in September 2019. Her appointment is very timely, as our members seek support with implementation of statutory RSE, and with the importance of inclusive and accessible RSE for young people with additional and unique needs much in the spotlight.
