We’re thrilled to announce our new appointments to the Board of the Sex Education Forum

10 May 2022

Following a successful recruitment process, we have appointed three new trustees to join our Board.

Cindy Xin Wen Zhang, Sarah Faithfull and Corah Gritton join the Sex Education Forum as we celebrate our first anniversary as an independent charity.

Cindy brings experience in fundraising and sponsorship for non-profit organisations and has previously served on the board of trustees for youth and arts charities. She is an active proponent for improving science communication and literacy among young people, and professionally Cindy is a PhD researcher and educator in reproductive physiology at the University of Cambridge.

Sarah is a youth participation and engagement specialist. She is currently Strategic Participation Manager at Young Minds, the UK's leading charity fighting for children and young people's mental health. Sarah is passionate about the rights of children and young people, and strives to make sure they are always involved in the decisions that impact them.

Corah’s work in the third sector has driven her passion for challenging educational inequality and she has studied social public policy in Glasgow, Hong Kong and Bosnia Herzegovina, researching gender violence and online dating. She is currently a civil servant at the Department for Education and has previously worked in the Scottish Parliament as a parliamentary researcher.

The appointment of Cindy, Sarah and Corah increases our Board membership to nine and adds to the breadth of collective skills and perspectives. The Board believes strongly that healthy governance of the Sex Education Forum is key to helping us achieve our objectives, and will strengthen the organisation as we work together with our members and other stakeholders to achieve our collective ambition of high quality RSE for all children and young people.

As Sex Education Forum celebrates one year as an independent charity it remains a high priority for us to hold government to account on the implementation of statutory RSHE, and to seek fresh ways of including children and young people in achieving our objective of evidence-based RSE for all.

Our trustees play a pivotal role in steering the charity forward, providing strategic advice and generously sharing their time and expertise to ensure we meet our charitable objectives.  All of the Board look forward to introducing our new trustees to our vibrant community of our partners and members in the coming months.
