Spring Members' Event - The future of RSHE for young people with SEND

What are our aspirations for RSHE for learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)? What does recent research say about the experiences of young people with SEND and what they want? How do we achieve our goal of inclusive, relevant and accessible relationships and sex education for all learners?

On 13 March we’ll address these questions. Join us for the opportunity to:

  • Find out about the ‘RESIDE’ project, which is taking a collaborative and evidence-informed approach to developing a RSE programme for young people with learning disabilities.
  • Hear from Professor Sarah Earle, author of ‘Sex, Intimacy and Living with Life Shortening Conditions’.
  • Consider practical examples of RSE in the classroom and as a whole-school approach through a school case-study.
  • Reflect on how far the implementation of statutory RSHE has met the needs of learners with SEND, what needs to happen next and the opportunities for change.

Who is the event aimed at?

Teachers and external educators, PSHE/RSE Leads, SENCos and voluntary sector organisations.
