As Chief Executive of the Sex Education Forum, Lucy oversees the day-to-day running of the charity and ensuring our members and partners continue to receive everything they would expect from Sex Education Forum, including high-quality resources and the latest policy developments.
Lucy has been at the forefront of campaigns for statutory RSE, and is regularly called on to inform both the policy and research agenda and to speak in the media.
Lucy also supports teachers by providing practical resources to help them provide quality RSE. She co-authored 'SRE for the 21st Century - Supplementary Advice for schools', e-magazine The Sex Educational Supplement, and has written publications including a guide for schools wanting to involve parents in RSE, 'Let’s work together'.
Lucy worked with young people to develop ‘Outside the Box’, an innovative new RSE programme for young people at higher risk of sexual exploitation. A training course for facilitators is now available nationally.
Currently, Lucy is leading our work as partner in the Positive Choices project, led by LSHTM. Lucy also provides bespoke consultancy input on a range of RSE related projects.
Earlier in her career, Lucy initiated the first ever national mapping survey of the provision of school-based sexual health services, which opened up a public conversation about access to sexual health services and resulted in many local authorities commissioning new services.
Lucy has previously worked for the sexual health charity Brook, in Birmingham, and delivered an HIV focused sexual health programme in Zimbabwe. She holds an MSc degree from the Open University in Development Management.
