As Chief Executive of the Sex Education Forum, Lucy oversees the day-to-day running of the charity and ensuring our members and partners continue to receive everything they would expect from Sex Education Forum, including high-quality resources and the latest policy developments.
Lucy has been at the forefront of campaigns for statutory RSE, and is regularly called on to inform both the policy and research agenda and to speak in the media. She has given evidence on RSHE in Parliament, most recently to the Women and Equalities Select Committee (May 2023). Lucy convenes the sector to work collaboratively on policy developments, producing tools such as an annual young people’s RSE poll to monitor current provision, and providing opportunities to progress and share practice so that educators have the necessary support and children and young people receive quality RSE.
Currently, Lucy is leading the Sex Education Forum's work as partner in the Positive Choices research project, led by LSHTM.
Earlier in her career, Lucy initiated the first ever national mapping survey of the provision of school-based sexual health services, which opened up a public conversation about access to sexual health services and resulted in many local authorities commissioning new services. Lucy has previously worked for the sexual health charity Brook, in Birmingham, and delivered an HIV focused sexual health programme in Zimbabwe. She holds an MSc degree from the Open University in Development Management.
