Cookie policy

Like most websites, we use cookies to collect information. Cookies are small data files which are placed on your computer or other devices (such as smartphones or tablets) as you browse this website. They are used to ‘remember’ when your computer or device accesses our website.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics (GA) to see how people use our website. We use this data to determine the number of people using our site, to better understand how they find and use our web pages and to see their journey through the website.

Although GA records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, none of this information personally identifies you to us. We send a partial record of your IP address to GA with the last few characters or “octet” removed, this prevents us or Google from knowing your exact location.

GA makes use of cookies, details of which can be found on Google’s developer guides.

Disabling cookies on your internet browser will stop GA from tracking any part of your visit to pages within this website.

We use Sendgrid to route emails for the Sex Education Forum membership sign up process. Data collected through SendGrid is not stored on this website nor by Sex Education Forum. SendGrid is a whitelisted, SMTP provider that ensures that our email delivery is reliable and you get membership emails with minimum disruption from junk/spam filters and other blocks to these important emails. You can find out more about SendGrid's privacy policy here (SendGrid is owned and managed by Twilio).

We use Hotjar in order to better understand our users’ needs and to optimize this service and experience. Hotjar is a technology service that helps us better understand our users’ experience (e.g. how much time they spend on which pages, which links they choose to click, what users do and don’t like, etc.) and this enables us to build and maintain our service with user feedback. Hotjar uses cookies and other technologies to collect data on our users’ behavior and their devices. This includes a device's IP address (processed during your session and stored in a de-identified form), device screen size, device type (unique device identifiers), browser information, geographic location (country only), and the preferred language used to display our website. Hotjar stores this information on our behalf in a pseudonymized user profile. Hotjar is contractually forbidden to sell any of the data collected on our behalf.

For further details, please see the ‘about Hotjar’ section of Hotjar’s support site.

We also use Mailchimp to collect sign up details to receive our free news updates. Data collected through Mailchimp is not stored on this website nor by Sex Education Forum. You can find out more about Mailchimp’s privacy policy here.
