The Sex Education Forum has a contract with East Sussex County Council to deliver a two-year package of training and support to East Sussex secondary schools.
The package includes:
- Universal schools membership
- Face-to-face training
- Remote and web support
- One-to-one support to school leaders
In year 1 of the programme, the Sex Education Forum successfully delivered nine training courses through the Universal Support Programme and provided direct, ongoing support to the eleven schools signed up to the Intensive Support Programme. A bespoke 'Web Hub' was created for sharing course information and for signposting schools to local and national services.
In year 2, the Outside the Box facilitator training was delivered to school staff to support targetted small group work for vulnerable pupils. The first RSE Summit day was delivered to 70 delegates, sharing best practice and innovation in RSE from schools across the county.
The Programme runs from June 2016 - May 2018.
Participant feedback
“Attendance at courses has provided exactly what is needed to keep me up to date with RSE developments and statutory requirements. They have had a real impact on how RSE has been taught in the last academic year”
Seahaven Academy
“A time to reflect, develop a deeper understanding; be inspired to tackle inclusion issues across the school”
Participant on Gender identity, gender equality and trans-inclusive RSE
"The wide ranging work undertaken by schools has been inspiring. The actions and interventions, whilst challenging, are already showing clear evidence of impact, leading to improvements in embedding effective RSE through a whole-school approach. I have been amazed by the energy, enthusiasm and dedication of schools to focus on this work throughout a time of educational challenge.”
