Everyone's Invited is a place for survivors to share their stories. We are a charity dedicated to exposing and eradicating rape culture with empathy, compassion and understanding. We are a safe space for all survivors to share their stories with complete anonymity. Our mission and education offerings are survivor-centred; community safeguarding and trauma-informed approaches are at the heart of everything we do.
Our origins
In 2020, founder and CEO Soma Sara, shared her experiences of rape culture as a young person, particularly in school, on Instagram. This led to an outpouring of responses in which other young people confirmed the widespread nature of rape culture and bravely detailed their own experiences.
Given that the vast majority of submissions came from young people pointing out the mishandling of rape culture and sexual violence in their educational institutions, the website was created to host testimonies and the school’s list of all the schools mentioned was published to emphasise that rape culture exists everywhere. The sheer number reveals that rape culture is prevalent in all schools. This is known as The Schools List, and it remains viewable on the Everyone’s Invited website.
The publishing of the EI Schools List garnered immense media attention, as well as an immediate response from the UK government, prompting the groundbreaking OFSTED investigation and subsequent report on sexual abuse in schools and colleges. In light of the above overwhelming response, Sara founded Everyone’s Invited in June 2020; it later gained charitable status in 2022. Through the publication of submissions, we have sparked a conversation about rape culture with millions of people.
